Domestic & Asbestos Surveys in Barton-upon-Humber
Most buildings constructed before the late 1990s are extremely likely to have some form of Asbestos Containing Material (ACM) present. Whilst this itself does not usually present a danger unless the asbestos is disturbed, there are several situations where it is advisable or legally required for you to have an Asbestos Survey carried out.
Working with a team of accredited surveyors, we can provide Asbestos Surveys in Barton-upon-Humber for most types of commercial and domestic premises. If you are the owner of, or have legal responsibility for a commercial property that was built before the year 2000 then the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 requires you to have an up to date asbestos management survey in place and available for inspection.
There is no legislative requirement for Domestic properties to have Asbestos Surveys currently, however if the property was built before the year 2000 it is highly advisable to have an Asbestos Survey conducted before carrying out any building work or renovations, as it is likely some form of ACM will be present.

To complete an Asbestos Survey, the surveyor will inspect every accessible part of the property to look for Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM). If any suspected ACMs are found, the surveyor will take a small sample of the material from as unobtrusive an area as possible, which will be tested in a UKAS accredited laboratory.
Once the survey is complete it usually takes about 5 working days to process your report. This report will identify any ACMs found, and give advice on how to mitigate the risk they present, which is often as simple as to advise to avoid disturbing the material, and to monitor its condition.
For Commercial Asbestos Surveys in Barton-upon-Humber, we provide two different types of survey. Asbestos Management Surveys, which will locate and identify any accessible ACMs, providing a risk assessment and management advice, and Asbestos Refurbishment and Demolition Surveys, which are more detailed and disruptive, but required before building work.
